Job Description
We are seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and highly motivated synthetic chemist to join our Organic & Oligo Chemistry R&D group within qPCR/CE Platform R&D organization. The position is at Staff Scientist level and is located in South San Francisco. In this role the scientist will be responsible for design, development and optimization of research projects on synthesis of organic dyes, modified nucleosides and related small molecules. The candidate will require working and contributing in multi-disciplinary projects that may involve surface derivatization and polymer chemistries.
The position will require excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications (must have)

·         Ph.D. in organic chemistry with 3-5 years postdoctoral and/or industrial experience.
·         Highly skilled synthetic chemist in the area of methodology development and multistep synthesis.
·         Strong knowledge on techniques related to purification and characterization of organic compounds.
·         Expertise in either synthesis of organic dyes and modified nucleosides is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications (nice to have)

·         Experience in surface chemistry or polymer chemistry is recommended.
·         Proven track record of creative thinking and consistent delivery as demonstrated by publication/presentation records.
·         Experience in process development and transfer of process is a plus
·         Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills
