Job Description
The Area Depth Imaging
Geophysicist assures the geophysical integrity of seismic data processing by
ensuring it is performed in compliance with company service quality procedures,
best practices, and departmental work practices. Some responsibilities are
shared with the project leader.
Successful Area Depth
Imaging Geophysicists have a reputation for thoroughness, patience, and
organizational ability. They are good communicators and problem solvers and
have supervisory and team skills.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure work complies with all
relevant service quality procedures, best practices, and departmental
practices.
- Act as technical consultant on
seismic data projects within a geographical region or large center.
- Share responsibility with
project leader for test plans, reports, and review meetings.
- Instigate and perform
geophysical studies and investigations of new and updated processing
flows; produce reports and oversee distribution.
- Investigate and report on
problems encountered during seismic data processing.
- Act as liaison with data
processing, geoservices, geosupport, acquisition, navigation, marketing
departments, and cross-segment initiatives.
- Share geophysical technical
knowledge through contact with all levels of staff and by compiling and
issuing documents.
- Keep abreast of developments
with seismic data processing techniques and company geophysical software.
- Provide support to data
processing managers for technical development and review of staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in
geophysics, geology, physics, mathematics, or similar scientific
qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of experience
in seismic data processing, including significant experience in
depth imaging and building velocity models, and experience as a technical
supervisor.
- Project management experience.
- Excellent grasp of geophysical
and geologic principles and techniques.
- Proficiency in English
language, spoken and written
